Role of Youth in Politics and Governance
Transparency International Pakistan in collaboration with Gomal University organized a youth integrity seminar on “Role of Youth in Politics and Governance; changing the attitudes and behavior of youth towards integrity and self-accountability”, on 9th April 2015. The event was attended by over 200 students.
The guest speakers at the event were Shafiullah Khan Gandapur (Divisional Director Anti-Corruption Establishment KPK), Umar Farooq Khan Miankhel (politician, high court lawyer, ex-MNA Dera Ismail Khan), and Maj. General (R) Prof. Dr. Hamid Shafiq. An introductory presentation on Transparency International Pakistan, Youth leadership and how it can contribute to the society was given by Mr. Mohsin Zeb (Director BIC, Gomal University). Mr. Gandapur talked about corruption and its types, how to control it, role of youth in changing general perceptions and their role in eliminating corruption. Mr. Miankhel focused on youth leadership and its functions, non-political responsibilities of youth, youth and self-reliance, and youth and self-concept. Mr. Shafiq mentioned the role of youth in education and nation building, integrity and its importance, and eliminating the concept of corruption. The event concluded with an interactive question and answer session and distribution of certificates to guest speakers and organizers of the event.
